Apurvi and Divyansh win golds at Meyton Cup in Austria

Apurvi Chandela and Divyansh Singh Panwar started the olympic year on a promisng note by bagging gold medals in the women and men’s 10m air rifle events respectively at the Meyton Cup in Innsbruck, Austria.

Olympic quota winner Apurvi shot the third best qualification score of 630.1 and followed it up with an equally impressive score of 251.4 in the final to seal the gold with a margin of 0.2 point. World No. 3 Apurvi had also won the gold and a bronze in the previous edition of the competition in 2019.

In the men’s 10m air rifle, World No. 2 Divyansh Singh Panwar shot 249.7 to claim the gold with a margin of 0.7 point. The silver was won by Dane Sampson of Australia while qualification topper Deepak Kumar (629.4) took the bronze.

Shooting Quota Number – 14 and 15

10 Nov 2019, Doha – Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Mairaj Ahmad Khan’s 1-2 finish in skeet Pratap at the Asian Championship in Doha on Sunday.

There was a shoot-off for the gold medal and Bajwa prevailed 6-5 against his compatriot after both were tied on 56. This is the first time that Indian skeet shooters won both gold and silver in the Asian Championships.

10 Nov 2019, Doha – Aishwary Pratap Tomar bagged 13th Olympic quota for India in shooting with a bronze medal in men’s 50m rifle 3 positions at the 14th Asian Championship here, giving the country its best-ever quota haul. Tomar shot 449.1 in the eight-man finals to finish third on the podium.

Deepak Kumar secured India’s 10th Tokyo Olympic quota in shooting after winning the men’s 10m air rifle bronze medal at the 14th Asian Championships.

Deepak shot 145 in the final of the event. Deepak, who won a bronze medal at the 2018 ISSF World Cup last year, qualified for the eight-man final in third place with a score of 626.8

Yashaswini Singh Deswal secured India’s ninth Olympic quota in shooting after she fired her way to the women’s 10m air pistol gold in the ISSF World Cup.

Yashaswini Singh Deswal, the 22-year-old former junior world champion recorded 236.7 in the eight-women final of the season’s fourth World Cup for pistol and rifle shooters.

World no.1 Olena Kostevych of Ukraine claimed the silver with 234.8.
